Autumn (Höst) has begun in Gothenburg aka Göteborg, and the first InterNations party of the seasons was also its 11th anniversary event.
More than 100 members from 50 countries with ‘global-mindedness’ gathered at the Clarion Post Hotel by Central Station on the last Friday of September. Lucia Stan and Raghu Sharma, the ambassadors of InterNations in Gothenburg, secured a newly-refurbished spot for the party at the landmark hotel and treated the guests with a platter of nibbles: a mix a different types of cheese and salami. The attendees were classic members (whose patronage has been with the community for almost a decade), regular members and more than seven new members – one of them was a Spotify’s engineer from the USA.
A Stockholmer residing in Gothenburg for work attended the party for the first time and expressed surprise at the diverse backgrounds of members and their conviviality.
InterNations is a cultural organization headquartered in Germany and has its presence in 420 cities. The occasion was also an opportunity for the international community to cash in on the networking opportunities, to find out about local events and expat-relevant information ranging from housing to outdoor activities to what is what.
The star attendees were a politician from Gothenburg and a Russian musician who is composing music for a movie and about to release an album.
