Way Out West 2019: 8, 9, 10 August has also a movie program along with the music festival where hundreds of music lovers and entertainers of the music industry are going to converge at Slottsskogen in Gothenburg.
Way Out West Film! The movie program at Way Out West shows notable films along with conversations with directors and actors. The organizers ‘are very proud to once again premiere two of the biggest TV series of the year: the very first chance to see ALL I DON’T REMEMBER (ALLT JAG INTE MINNS), SVT’s series based on Jonas Hassen Khemiri’s novel of the same name, and the first episodes of the upcoming season of SVT’s audience success OUR TIME IS NOW (VÅR TID ÄR NU). In addition, we have the Swedish premiere of HBO Nordic’s major venture, the series BEFOREIGNERS, which will be released later this fall’. At the Nordic premiere of the rewritten documentary HAIL SATAN?, Lucien Greaves, one of the foremost figures of modern Satanism and co-founder of The Satanic Temple will be present.
Way Out West offers an exclusive preview of AND THEN WE DANCED, Levan Akin’s film, acclaimed by a unanimous critic in Cannes, and Nordic premiere of the zombie film THE DEAD DON’T DIE directed by Jim Jarmusch with stars such as Adam Driver, Chloë Sevigny , Bill Murray, RZA, Iggy Pop and Tom Waits.

BLINDED BY THE LIGHT: At the festival’s film program, Gurinder Chandha’s BLINDED BY THE LIGHT is scheduled for the Nordic premiere. The movie is about ‘how Bruce Springsteen’s music changes the life of a British teenager in 1987’.
OTHER MOVIES to be premiered are JOSEFIN & FLORIN (a documentary about life’s unexpected twists, norms and love across all borders, where we follow the love story between Swedish Josefin and Romanian Florin), AMAZING GRACE (Sydney Pollack’s documentary on the recording of Aretha Franklin’s legendary album of the same title: the show is followed by a conversation with Elena Wolay, Raymond “Blues” Peroti and Mapei), THE BRINK (a documentary on right-wing extremist Steve Bannon, and his activities since leaving the role of official advisor to President Trump), AMIE AND FANNAS STRIPTRIP (a documentary where Amie Bramme Sey and Fanna Ndow Norrby travel to the United States to investigate the strip clubs and environments that play a major role in hip hop culture), WE INTEND TO CAUSE HAVOC (about the Zambian cult-declared band of the same name), COULD THIS BE YOU (Agnieszka Lukasiak follows two British animal rights activists who have taken the law into their own hands).
MUSIC DOCUMENTARIES: At the 3-day music festival, there will be lots of music documentaries such as SIVANDIVAN (a portrait of Siv Wennberg: one of Sweden’s most quirky artists: eccentric, brutally honest, and vengeful) and WE HAVE OUR OWN SON (a newly restored time trip to “the alternative tune festival” held in protest against the commercialization of Eurovision in Stockholm 1975).
