The first day of the annual music festival, WAY OUT WEST, at Slottsskogen in Gothenburg saw thousands of visitors attending the event to listen to the top musicians, see films and listen to the ideas behind filmmaking and documentaries. Sweden’s popular singer Zara Larsson performed at one of the concert venues called Flamingo at Slottsskogen to a packed audience for more than an hour. www.gothenburg-400.com spoke to the fans of Zara Larsson and found out why they like her. The fans said:

‘You can dance’ to Zara Larsson’s music.

Zara Larsson is a fan of Beyoncé, and moulded her career also an activist. But her recent commercial engagement with the Chinese technology company Huawei came under intense scrutiny in the Swedish media on the grounds of human rights and others.

On the first day of the music festival, 8 August 2019, after the performance of Zara Larsson, British singer and songwriter James Blake performed at Azalea, one of the venues for concerts. He is also a multi-instrumentalist and record producer from London. www.gothenburg-400.com spoke to the fans of James Blake and found out why they like him. The fans said:

WAY OUT WEST is one of the important annual events in Gothenburg. It has been happening year after year for thirteen years. It attracts visitors from Sweden and beyond. Many international musicians make their presence, and most of the musicians and performers look up to the organizers for an invitation to participate in the music festival.

British singer Jorge Smith also performed on the first day of the festival at Flamingo. She encouraged the audience to sing along with her. Alongside the music concerts, the venue at Slottsskogen has art installations, eco-friendly food and marked smoking areas in the midst of art works.

WAY OUT WEST has grown to become Sweden’ third largest film festivals. At the talk point of the festival, Höjden, Lucian Greaves was present to talk about Satanism: Satanism – Freedom of Hell? He was the source of inspiration for the documentary film on Satanism and the founder of ‘The Satanic Temple’.
