More than 60 people from more than 30 countries had gathered for a social get together to exchange ideas, contacts, information on the lifestyle in and around Gothenburg aka Göteborg and in Sweden among others.
The Summer White Party was organized by InterNations on Friday, 27 July 2018, at Comfort Hotel. The hotel is known for its rooftop bar with a spectacular view of the riverside and seaside city of Gothenburg. Many of them who had gathered were clad in white garments for the dress code was white.
InterNations is an international community for people who live and work abroad, and a platform for networking opportunities, local events and expat-relevant information. To ensure the quality of the network, InterNations membership is by approval only. The cultural group encourages members to invite their friends with global outlook or who wants to know about others and other cultures.
InterNations’ spirit is – “Nobody stands alone!” It is founded to enable people coming from different cities and countries to connect to one another: “Live the spirit of connecting global minds to ensure that every member has a lovely time.” At the monthly gathering, the organization expects people to be welcoming and introduce themselves or their friends to others without aloofness, or maintaining a pretence of not knowing.
InterNations has paid members called Albatross Members and non-paying members called Basic Members. To attend the monthly gathering, one has to pay depending upon one’s membership.
Lucia Stan, ambassador of InterNations in Gothenburg says: “It is special worldwide because it is cosmopolitan, it is a network, it is a platform where professional people get together. They exchange ideas. They get in contact that they may get further help with each other along the way.” She adds, “In Gothenburg even better because it is a small community rather than like in other bigger cities like bigger capitals. It is nice to meet once in a month, and have fun by meeting people.”
Under the umbrella of InterNations, members can form subgroups to carry out their pastimes ranging from outdoor activities to dining groups to salsa clubs and various other activities that members initiate and organize with likeminded people.
